North Carolina Artists Larry Burge, Bob Dance and Joe Seme will be showing their paintings at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort, September 1 through October 28, 2007 in an exhibit titled, “Masters of Realism.”

The work of artist Larry Burge of Newport, NC is represented in many important collections including Wachovia Bank, RJR Nabisco, the North Carolina Seafood Festival, The Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and the Crystal Coast Tourism Bureau, among others. On a national level, Burge’s limited-edition prints are collector’s items. His work has been profiled in publications such as The Illustrator art magazine, Manhattan Arts, American Artists – A Survey of Leading Contemporaries, Our State and others.
Bob Dance of Kinston, NC has exhibited his work at the major exhibitions of the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, Connecticut. His painting, “Hatteras Standing” was shown in the Great Hall of the Smithsonian Institution. He had the opening exhibition at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in 1985, and again in 1997. His drawing of a spritsail skiff was selected, in the mid-1970s, by the late Charles R. McNeill, museum director to be used as the logo for the N.C. Maritime Museum. Dance’s work is in numerous corporate and private collections, including the N.C. Museum of Art.
Joe Seme of Wilmington, NC is known for his still life and trompe l’oeil paintings. He has been painting for more than 30 years and his earliest paintings reflected his hobbies and enjoyments of life including decoys, sports and antique corkscrews. Seme’s paintings have been exhibited in the N.C. Museum of Art, the Asheville Art Museum and many others. His work has also been featured in Today’s Art, American Artist, The Arts Journal and Wildlife in North Carolina, to name a few.
